Then in 1996 IBM’s Deep Blue supercomputer beat world chess champion Garry Kasparov. But the computer was tweaked between matches and disassembled soon after. Hmm…
- Then 20 years later, the challenge was could a computer teach itself how to play a video game? Watch the Deep Q video below for the answer.
- The next year, AlphaGo beat champion Go player, Lee Sedol. Note that the game of Go has over 300 times more plays than in chess.
- Today, a type of AI called Machine Learning, is being used in:
- email filters
- Auto-correct text
- Video recommendations
- Voice recognition
- Translation apps
- Digital assistants, etc.
- The scope of AI has far outgrown game playing.
