Page 38 from the Nowicki textbook has a supplemental topic titled “Critical Concepts, Who makes a good CFO?” Mentioned here are the results of a 2000 survey regarding the traits that leaders have that CFO’s must possess to be successful. Familiarize yourself with these traits and the rest of the material on pages 38 & 39 from the Nowicki text. Then watch the interview with Lamar Chesney, former CFO of Delta Airlines, Coca-Cola, and several other Fortune 500 companies.
After reviewing the reading and the video, briefly compare and contrast what Nowicki cites in the survey and what Chesney states in his interview. Are they similar? Are they vastly different? Additionally discuss any specific traits not discussed by Chesney that may be specific to healthcare and the potential value they have for CFO’s in the healthcare industry. Lastly, feel free to discuss your organization or institution’s Financial Management structure and how it relates to either the Nowicki text or Chesney’s interview.
