1. Name the oppressed community you will write about.
Describe the possible cultural identities of the oppressed community.
When you write about cultural identities, be sure to say something like this
made-up example: “This community is people of color who live in poverty, have
been in abusive situations, are mostly women and children and live in poorer parts
of cities in any location in the world and may hold strict religious beliefs that make
women and children vulnerable.” etc.
b. Name an ethical framework for the oppressed community that best fits how this
stakeholder behaves and make decisions. (Use the frameworks discussed in this
class: Utilitarian, Kantian, Virtue and Feminist/Care ethics)

2. Name stakeholders who are oppressing or benefiting from the oppression of this
community and describe the possible cultural identities of these stakeholders. Please choose a generalized group of people, not just one person or organization or country.

3. For each of your seven (7) sources listed below, provide the name of the source, a link, a citation and a brief summary of what you learned about your community (1-2 sentences).
Each of your sources should be credible and pass the CRAAP test or another method.
a. Find a peer reviewed article from a scholarly journal that discusses your oppressed community, who they are, how they are oppressed, who oppresses them, etc.
b. Find a book that provides information about your oppressed community who they are, how they are oppressed, who oppresses them, etc. Use the Albertson’s Library

c. Find a national law (from any country) whose purpose is to protect this oppressed
community. Describe the purpose of this law.

d. Find an international organization whose purpose is to protect this oppressed
community by taking direct action to provide help and resources for them. Describe
the purpose of this organization. If the organization has “National” in the title, it is not
appropriate. (This organization must NOT be part of the United Nations organizations or declarations, NOR should it be a place that just provides research and/or information.)

e. List at least two (2) of the articles of the 30 that were written in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights that are being violated when this community is
oppressed.
f. Find an article that discusses how this oppressed community exists worldwide (NOT just in the United States or other countries), that provide examples of how and where this happens internationally and provides some statistics about this community on an international level.
g. Find at least one other credible source that discusses the oppression of your chosen community.
4. From the sources you have found for this activity, make an educated guess about what
types of systemic inequality your oppressed community experiences. Include things like
laws, traditions, policies that negatively affect your oppressed community. 1-2 sentences.
