Theoretical Foundations of Advanced Practice Nursing
In this paper (3 pages maximum), you will reflect on your own worldview and beliefs about each component of the nursing metaparadigm to create and then describe your own personal nursing metaparadigm. You will select a grand or middle-range nursing theory to examine. For the purpose of this assignment, I would recommend but not require the use of a middle-range theory. Using the selected theory, you will discuss the development of the theory and why the theory was selected. Further description of the theory includes synthesizing the literature you select about the theory. A minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed articles and citations from the course texts are expected.
In this class, no first-person use is the expectation in scholarly papers. You can use phrases such as “this author” or “the writer” instead. Pay particular attention to the transition flow from one paragraph to the next as well as from one section to the next. Be sure to use the prescribed headings. The rubric below contains the components that need to be demonstrated in your paper.

Develop and describe your own personal metaparadigm as it relates to your worldview and nursing practice. Select a nursing theory to examine and discuss the theory origin with articulation of the metaparadigm from the theorist’s perspective. Paper exceeding page limit will not be graded.
