Disasters in Emergency Management

Identify a natural or man-made disaster within the definition of disaster or emergency developed to date in this course. The disaster or emergency must be a large-scale event that occurred anywhere in the world within the past three years. The event may include a terrorist attack. Locate an after action report or thorough news report on the event and write a three to four page critique of the government’s response to the event. Identify the strengths and weaknesses with respect to the government or country’s efforts at planning, prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery. What recommendations would you provide for improvement in the areas of planning and management? The paper should be no longer than four and not less than three pages, and compliance with CMS style of writing. Please provide references and citations where appropriate. This is expected to be a scholarly written paper and citations and references are expected. Your paper will be graded using the Writing Assignment Rubric provided in the syllabus. It is recommended that you check your paper against this rubric before submitting it.
