Each candidate will individually video tape themselves (just have it in a paper writing that will be 10 minutes long in speaking) facilitating a 10 minute segment of a class on a social issue in the schools. You will be facilitating as if you were the school counselor presenting material to an audience such as for students in a class, a training for teachers, a presentation to administrators local and District, and finally parents from the school. Select the grade level that you want to work in and begin to create your presentation. You will need to begin with an outline of your presentation, obtain and set up your video and audio units, and select an audience (which can be real or your friends). Your actually presentation should be using a power point presentation, brochures, white boards, etc. in a well lit room with minimal
echo. Do a practice recording once to check that your picture is centered and the audio is good, then you will be ready to go! (Due the end of Week Three, time and date to be determined).

  1. Description of the magnitude of the problem: use national or state data to show need for intervention
  2. Behavioral characteristics of the problem (full description of problem). Include impact on students’ academic and personal/social success. Include developmental differences related to the issue
  3. Interventions or strategies to address the problem (counselor specific and what students can do also to help be apart of the solution)
  4. Conclusions and recommendations
  5. References should include a minimum of four (4) sources: including a minimum of2 research articles, and/or program/agency, internet site *Students should prepare a bibliography APA style
