Explanation of the topic and how psychology is presented as a science.
The article chosen for this paper is, “The development of personality extremity form childhood to adolescence: relations to internalizing and externalizing problems.” The study did an investigation of personality extremity development across childhood all through to adolescence coupled with relations between personality extremity and consequential adjustment issues (Van den Akker, Prinzie, Deković, Haan, Asscher, & Widiger, 2013). For about 598 kids, or rather children, the fathers and mothers reported the five common big personal dimensions almost four times across the eight years, personality extremity was represented. There is a well-established validity of big five approach for the description of the child and adolescent personalities.

There are many reasons why studying different personality theories is important and that is why this topic was chosen for analysis. When the different theories are studied, we are enabled individuals to see each of the theorist’s point of view about their speculations on personality (Van den Akker, Prinzie, Deković, Haan, Asscher, & Widiger, 2013). All those theories developed on personality have their explanations on what personality is all about quite differently and therefore studying this topic is very critical to psychology students.
Professional roles and interactions.
As much as the visualization of a five dimensional space is impossible, the vectors length from an individual can easily be computed using the extension of the Pythagoras theorem, especially the two dimensional space. On personality especially touching on the lives of children and adolescents, paperwork is one of those roles that cannot be ignored. There is a perceived association between personality extremity and pathology (personality). Therefore, the professionals in this field are charged with the role of investigating development in these children.
More importantly, taking into account the possible situations of children (different) developing long very unfamiliar developmental trajectories. In the article, there is a great professional interaction between teachers and the psychologists since the study is being conducted amongst children and adolescents who are possibly within schools. Various psychological perspectives are touched on in the article. A lot is explained on personality extremity. Personality extremity is very important to me since the extremity of an individual’s personality traits and configuration, according the article can be used in predicting the personality pathology in the adults (Van den Akker, Prinzie, Deković, Haan, Asscher, & Widiger, 2013). This explains psychodynamic perspective in psychology which was proposed by Sigmund Freud. That the events that occur in the lives of children, concepts such as personality extremity can have quite significant impacts on their future behaviour in adulthood.
The unconscious part of humans mind is where personality structure really emanate and resides from (Hjelle, & Ziegler, 2006). Past thoughts and experiences can be of influence the type of an individual we become. Another perspective of personality theories evident in the article is the issue of view of self. View of self is actually acquired through learning and hugely develops from relationships with other children and adolescents. Additionally they are important since they actually involve own functioning and being (Ellis, Abrams, & Abrams, 2009). These perspectives are quite important since they are important to the understanding of human behaviour and developmental theories especially on personality.
